Valleywag.com first reported, and others have subsequently confirmed, that former Vudu CEO Mark Jung has left the company after one year.
Jung had joined the company fromFox Interactive Media (FIM) where he was responsible Internet properties including MySpace, IGN Entertainment, FoxSports.com and AmericanIdol.com.
Vudu began slashing its work force in August, but has quelled rumors that the company is in trouble. The provider of IP-based video on demand has boasted about its partnership with Best Buy, the recruitment of 1,000 dealers and its collection of 1,100 HD movie titles.
The scuttlebut, however, is that Vudu has sold precious few boxes.
Despite the fact that Vudu is the only one to offer 1080p/24 movie downloads, the company faces fierce competition from NetFlix, Blockbuster/Movielink, possibly Apple, cable, satellite, and many more.
